OVERVIEW

Conversations in Cardiology: Advances in Difficult-to-Treat and Resistant Hypertension is organized by Vindico Medical Education and will be held on Mar 15, 2019 at Hilton New Orleans Riverside, New Orleans, Louisiana, United States of America.

Target Audience:
The intended audience for this activity is cardiologists and other health care professionals involved in the management of patients with treatment-resistant hypertension.

Overview:
According to a 2018 American Heart Association Scientific Statement, 10.3 million US adults have treatment-resistant hypertension. It has been shown that these adults are at a markedly increased risk for cardiovascular target organ damage and cardiovascular events. Therefore, it is of considerable interest that novel approaches to treatment-resistant hypertension are being developed and evaluated in clinical trials. This program will review recent evidence regarding the impact of treatment-resistant hypertension and its contribution to cardiovascular risk, as well as assess the efficacy of conventional pharmacotherapeutic regimens and emerging therapies for treatment-resistant hypertension.

Learning Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
• Review recent evidence regarding the impact of treatment-resistant hypertension and its contribution toward cardiovascular risk.
• Assess the efficacy of conventional non-pharmacologic and pharmacotherapeutic regimens used to treat treatment-resistant hypertension.
• Evaluate new clinical findings regarding the mechanisms of action, safety, and efficacy of emerging therapies for treatment-resistant hypertension.

Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
