Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Interpretation and Applications is organized by UCLA School of Dentistry and will be held on Feb 02, 2019 at UCLA School of Dentistry, Los Angeles, California, United States of America. This CDE Conference has been approved for a maximum of 8 CDE Credits.
Cone Beam CT imaging has revolutionized the way we visualize the maxillofacial region. This full day lecture / hands-on workshop is designed for dentists who currently utilize CBCT imaging for patient management and are seeking to gain a higher level skill set in interpretation and application. The first half of the day will consist of lectures that will review the principles of CBCT technology and methods to achieve maximally diagnostic imaging. In addition, the lectures will cover radiographic anatomy, artifacts and signs of pathology. The afternoon will be spent in a hands-on session, during which participants will be trained on the use of various CBCT software platforms and guided through proper CBCT interpretation, using multiple clinical cases. This is a great opportunity to get unbiased hands-on training on various CBCT software platforms (Invivo Anatomage, Dolphin, NewTom, Morita and Osirix) to evaluate how they meet your clinical needs.
The class size is limited to 8 participants to facilitate close interaction with the faculty. Participants are encouraged to bring their challenging cases for consultation and group discussion. Custom sessions are also available for your practice or interdisciplinary team.
Learning Objectives:
• How to perform a systematic review and interpretation of a CBCT scan
• Principles of modern CBCT technology and its usage
• Identification of radiographic anatomy, landmarks, and anomalies
• Selection of the proper CBCT sections and views to address specific concerns
• Risks of ionizing radiation and ways to minimize patient and staff exposure
• Ethical and medicolegal considerations of CBCT
Workshop Exercises:
• Interpretation of at least 3 clinical cases: implant, endodontic, orthodontic, orofacial pain, sleep apnea and/or pathology
• Utilization of multiple CBCT software platforms
• Identification of standard radiographic landmarks, pathologies, and anomalies
