OVERVIEW

Cardiovascular Care Update Conference 2019 is organized by University of Washington Continuing Nursing Education (UWCNE) and will be held from Feb 13 - 14, 2019 at Center For Urban Horticulture, Seattle, Washington, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 14.60 Contact hours.

Target Audience:
For nurses, advanced practice nurses, clinical nurse specialists and other health care professionals in all settings including acute, critical care, ambulatory care, community, public health and long term care.

Description:
Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease are the number one cause of death in women and men in the United States. Evaluation and management of patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease is a challenge that impacts every healthcare practice. This premier Pacific Northwest conference for healthcare professionals provides an outstanding annual forum for learning about cutting-edge research and state-of-the-art strategies for prevention and management of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease. Teaching methods include lecture, case study analysis and discussion.

Objectives for Learning Outcomes:

Day 1

• Discuss science of resuscitation and what matters?
• Describe the difference between point of care ultrasound and complete diagnostic studies.
• Review and discuss data on clinical outcomes related to development and implantation of a specialized cardiology/mechanical circulatory support/cardiothoracic surgery arrest response team.
• Recognize the patient that would benefit from a formal CPET.
• Discuss 3 general categories of cardiovascular effects of toxic substances.
• Describe integration of microcirculation into hemodynamic assessment.
• Recognize principles of managing coronary chronic total occlusions (CTO).
• Discuss common cardiac conditions that occur in the older adult population.

Day 2

• Discuss the 2015 AHA Guideline Updates for Post Arrest Care.
• Recognize the diagnosis of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.
• Recognize key characteristics of team-based care.
• Review the agents pharmacologic properties, indications, correct dosage, side effects.
• Learn simple way to do axis on 12 lead EKG, identifying hemiblocks, and bundle branch blocks.
• Describe temporary mechanical support options available to support patients in acute cardiogenic shock.
• Discuss how noninvasive vascular tests are used to diagnose and treat arterial and venous problems that occur in the inpatient cardiac setting.
• Describe steps to ensure accuracy of noninvasive/invasive BP measurements.
