Course Description :
The overall educational purpose of this activity is toprovide a forum for collaboration within themultidisciplinary congenital cardiac care community. This symposium brings current applications andstrategies in children’s cardiac care addressing topicsof broad interest to all persons in the care of children with cardiac issues. The participants will explore the continuum of congenital heart care from the fetal diagnosis through adulthood. This program will introduce current concepts and technological advances in the provision of congenital cardiac care as well as provide an update on the services provided by the Pediatric Heart Center at UC Davis Children’s Hospital.
Course Objectives :
At the end of the activity, participants should beable to:
• Discuss the short- and long-term care of thepatient with congenital heart disease.Describe the transition of the cardiovasculasystem from the fetus to the neonate.
• Recognize the echo-sonographic findings mostcommonly encountered in congenital heartdisease, including patent ductus arteriosus.
• Discuss management strategies for the adultpatient with congenital heart disease.Identify community resources available for thepediatric patient with congenital heart disease.
