24th Annual Innovations in Urologic Practice is organized by Grand Rounds in Urology (GRU) and will be held from Sep 13 - 15, 2019 at Inn and Spa At Loretto, Santa Fe, New Mexico, United States of America.

Target Audience:
This activity is designed for general urologists, oncologists, radiation oncologists, primary care physicians, and other healthcare providers who treat and care for urology patients. For urologists, oncologists, and radiation oncologists, this conference will focus on genitourinary cancer treatment and provide a detailed description of bladder cancer, immunotherapy, UTUC, state of the art imaging, focal therapy, and MRI for prostate cancer, and new tools and techniques for nephrectomy and treating advanced renal cell carcinoma. For general urologists and primary care physicians, there will be a focus on pelvic reconstruction and trauma, men’s health topics dealing with male infertility and sexual dysfunction, and ways to treat infectious conditions in urology.

Description:
This conference will provide a detailed review and commentary on multiple genitourinary and urologic diseases. Among the featured oncological topics are a description of bladder cancer and immunotherapies, as well as upper tract cancer management, prostate cancer, including state-of-the-art imaging, focal therapy, and MRI. Experts will also discuss new tools and techniques for nephrectomy and treating advanced renal cell carcinoma. In terms of general urological approaches, conference sessions will educate attendees on pelvic reconstruction and trauma, men’s health topics like male infertility and sexual dysfunction, and ways to diagnose and treat infections in the urology patient.

Program Overview:
Prostate Cancer
Discussions will focus on early diagnosis and screening of prostate cancer. Specifically, our faculty will debate the role of MRI in prostate biopsies, selecting patients for active surveillance, and guiding targeted focal therapy. Both localized and advanced treatment will be subject to review and commentary.

Bladder Cancer
The program will emphasize case-based decision-making options for MIBC, second-line bladder cancer therapies, lymph node dissection during radical cystectomy, and immunotherapy for bladder cancer.

Other Genitourinary Cancers
Upper tract urothelial cancer and testis cancer management will be discussed as well as new tools and techniques for nephrectomy and treating advanced renal cell carcinoma.

Men’s Health
Our faculty will provide an advanced review and interactive discussion on best practices in the penile prosthesis, pelvic reconstruction and trauma, transgender surgery, hypogonadism, urethral strictures, hypospadias, nocturia, male anorgasmia, and new perspectives on treating male infertility. This section will also include updates to the new AUA guidelines on testosterone, erectile dysfunction, and urethral strictures.

MIS/Flank Pain/Renal
This session emphasizes and provides direction on strategies for the successful workup and management of the frustrating clinical conundrum of recurrent flank pain. Attendees will learn about the medical and surgical management of retroperitoneal fibrosis in the minimally invasive era and autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.

Infections in Urology
This session focuses on infections in the urology setting, including antimicrobial prophylaxis for transrectal prostate biopsy, management of UTIs, antimicrobial resistance, multi-drug resistant bacteria, 3D printing, VR simulators, genetic engineering, and autologous fascia for pelvic floor reconstruction.

Needs Statement:
This conference focuses on current controversies and innovative diagnostic and treatment strategies for some of the most common urologic problems faced by clinical urologists, oncologists, and other healthcare providers who treat patients with urologic diseases. The rapidly changing healthcare environment and pace of technological innovations in medicine require urologists, oncologists, and other healthcare providers to keep abreast of state-of-the-art diagnosis and management of urologic disease.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to:
• List the updated strategies for the diagnosis and management of patients with metastatic prostate cancer and apply these strategies in clinical practice
• Analyze and interpret the recent literature and controversies on how to treat patients with renal cell carcinoma
• List the novel therapies that are available to treat patients with overactive bladder.
• Implement the use of botox and other novel therapies for overactive bladder to treat patients with overactive bladder in clinical practice
• Counsel patients with metastatic prostate cancer on the appropriate treatment options available for their condition
