Program Overview:
This program will explore research and advances in the diagnosis and management of benign hematologic conditions and hematologic malignancies, including indications for novel therapies and use in special populations. Aimed at community hematologists and oncologists, as well as advanced practice providers and nurses, this meeting will use case-based presentations to highlight recommendations for treatment of common hematologic diagnoses such as myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and immune thrombocytopenia. We will also discuss pain management in the era of opioid addiction.

Learning Objectives:
As a result of participation in this symposium, attendees will be able to:
• Discuss alternative treatment regimens are available for patients who have failed first-line therapy for ITP
• Describe clinical scenarios in which reversal of anticoagulation is indicated and how reversal agents should be administered
• Recognize patient populations for whom eltrombopag should be added to immunosuppressive therapy for treatment of aplastic anemia.
• Explain a differential diagnosis for thrombocytopenia in the pregnant patient.
• Develop a treatment strategy using targeted therapies for cutaneous T cell lymphoma.
• Describe management of side effect profile for new agents and for targeted therapies.
