2019 Pediatric Sedation / Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Recertification CE Course is organized by Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (FAPD) and will be held from Mar 07 - 10, 2019 at University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is for any dentist interested in reinforcing the knowledge and performance skills requisite to providing best rescue practices for the pediatric dental patient. This Conference has been approved for a maximum of 8 hours of continuing education credits.
The FAPD will submit 4 CEU for Emergency Management and 4 CEU verification of ACLS recertification to CE Broker for all Florida dental license holders.
Conference Description:
This course fulfils some of the continuing education requirements mandated by the Florida Board of Dentistry for the renewal of pediatric sedation permits. This course includes 4 CEUs in emergency management as well as BLS / ACLS recertification training. BLS /ACLS renewal cards will be mailed to all participants who successfully pass the written examination and testing stations. This course will also provide instruction and practice in the performance and communication skills necessary among the dental team while interacting with a child simulator responding to various adverse events requiring emergency intervention.
Conference Objectives:
• Define medical risk assessment and learn its relevance to the pediatric dental patient.
• Identify how to identify red flags in the health history and determine whether it is safe to perform the planned dental procedure.
• Participate in hands-on simulations of a variety of medical emergencies for which a dental office should be prepared including syncope, angina attack, MI, cardiac arrhythmia, stroke, hypertensive episode, airway obstruction, seizure, local anesthetic overdose, hypoglycemia, asthma attack, hyperventilation, and allergic reaction/anaphylaxis.
• Assign roles and direct your team in rescuing your pediatric patient using an Office Action Plan, Checklist and Protocols.
• Review the drugs and equipment you must have in your dental office to manage a pediatric medical emergency.
