The 43rd Annual Fitz-Hugh Symposium and UVA Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Alumni Reunion is organized by University of Virginia (UVA) and will be held from Jun 21 - 22, 2019 at Pinn Hall Conference Center (formerly Jordan Hall), Charlottesville, Virginia, United States of America.

Target Audience:
This course is designed to meet the educational needs of health professionals involved in all aspects of otolaryngology. This includes a broad audience of otolaryngologists, allergists and immunologists, neurologists, audiologists, internists, pediatricians, primary care providers, nurses, nurse practitioners, and other allied health providers.

Course overview:
Pediatric Otolaryngology is a field which has many aspects not known to even general ENT providers. The workup and treatment of these patients are often multifaceted and changing quickly. This has included advancements in rhinology, laryngology, and otology, all of which have differences from known algorithms in adults.

This year’s symposium will provide information on cutting edge algorithms and therapies in order to allow for the health care team to provide the best, most advanced and comprehensive ENT care in our tertiary care setting.

Education Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
• Understand the broader implication of laryngeal pathology and the varied ways of treating them.
• Better understand and discuss the complexities of pediatric hearing issues and treatments.
• Thoroughly approach pediatric neck masses from both a clinical and radiologic perspective.
• Understand swallowing, dysphagia, and dysphonia as it commonly is evaluated in the otolaryngology practice.
• Discuss non-direct patient care aspects of otolaryngology beyond the sphere of direct clinical medicine
