Salzburg Hernientage 2018 Conference

5th Salzburg Hernientage Conference (SHT 2018) is organized by Vienna Medical Academy (VMA) / Wienner Medizinische Akademie (WMA) and will be held from Oct 25 - 26, 2018 at Salzburg Congress, Salzburg, Austria.

Conference Description:
Traditionally, two main topics are the focus of the conference:
• Guidelines in the mirror of the register data
• The endoscopic extraperitoneal meshing of complex abdominal wall hernias - trend or paradigm shift?

The discussion about the significance and, above all, the implementation of the guidelines in hernia surgery is to be seen above all in the critical aspect of published analyzes of large registry data, such as the Herniamed registry, which now contains the largest number of data records in the world.

The second main theme is the latest trend in new minimally invasive techniques that aim to achieve extraperitoneal mesh placement. The resulting questions: "which method for which hernia species" under the special point of view of a "tailored approach", as well as the tips and tricks of the proponents of these new techniques, presented and discussed.

The live-surgery from the halls of the surgical university clinic Salzburg (board member: Univ.Prof. Dr. Klaus Emmanuel) under the already proven organizational direction of Priv.-Doz. Dr. Franz Mayer will take into account these innovative hernia surgical procedures, including the much-acclaimed and discussed "da Vinci Robotic" interventions.

In the run-up to the 5th Salzburg Hernia Days, the 3rd Austrian Hernia Compact Intensive Course ( www.hernie-kompakt.at ) takes place from 22.-24.10.2018.
