USF - Emergency Medicine POCUS Workshop

USF - Emergency Medicine POCUS Workshop is organized by University of South Florida (USF), Arun Kalava and will be held on Nov 15, 2018 at Araliya Venue, Tampa, Florida, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is Emergency Physicians, Critical Care Physicians, Internal Medicine, Acute Care Physicans, ARNP, Residents, Fellows. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 8 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Course Objectives are:
• Understand basic ultrasound physics, as it pertains to the practical aspects of performing point of care ultrasound.
• Understand the basic functions of the machine, such as adjusting depth, gain and focus.
• Perform the FAST exam
• Recognize a positive FAST exam
• Understand the indications, false positives and false negatives of FAST exams
• Perform the four basic cardiac POCUS views and recognize a normal cardiac POCUS
• Recognize poor systolic function, RV enlargement and pericardial effusion
• Perform an abdominal aorta POCUS
• Recognize a normal POCUS of the aorta
• Recognize an abdominal aortic aneurysm on POCUS
• Perform a POCUS of the IVC
• Interpret an IVC POCUS as it pertains to fluid tolerance
• Perform a thoracic POCUS
• Recognize a normal thoracic POCUS
• Recognize lung sliding, pleural effusion, pneumonia and interstitial syndrome
• Recognize vein from artery on POCUS
• Guide a needle into a vessel dynamically utilizing POCUS
