Course Description:
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is hosting their 3rd Annual Updates in Pediatric Emergency Medicine Conference. The purpose of this course is to help clinicians recognize the symptoms and best mode of treatment for common pediatric emergencies such as seizures, psychiatric emergencies, pediatric gynecological emergencies and the fainting child. In addition, clinicians will learn about what can best be treated in the office versus in the hospital setting.
Course Objectives are:
Following the education, the learner will be able to:
• Discuss a systematic approach to the evaluation of a syncopal child.
• Approach to the child presenting in danger to self or others.
• Discuss the emergent management of the seizing child.
• Discuss common environmental emergencies including, heat-related illness, hypothermia, drowning and common local envenomations.
• Discuss the emergence of the opioid epidemic and its impact on how we manage pain.
• Describe the systematic approach to the child that presents with a limp.
• Discuss the most common pediatric eye emergencies, from simple abrasions to penetrating injuries.
• Discuss common pediatric gynecological emergencies.
