Tooth Preparation From Margin To Occlusion Programme is organized by Indian Dental Association (IDA) and will be held on Nov 17, 2018 at Educational Training Centre, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The target audience for this medical event is Dental Students, Interns, Post-Graduates, Dental Practitioners.

Course Description:
Preparing a tooth for the prosthesis is synonymous with rope walking; in the sense that it calls for the clinician to strike the perfect balance between enough tooth reduction to allow for prosthesis strength plus aesthetics and at the same time protect the remaining tooth structure from insult and injury. In practice, tooth preparations should be planned according to each individual case; as in each case this balance will be different.

There are four main categories of prosthesis available to a clinician namely: full metal, Porcelain fused to Metal (PFM), Porcelain fused to Zirconia (PFZ) and All-Ceramic. Tooth preparations need to reflect the varying requirements of these materials in terms of an amount of occlusal/incisal reduction and their marginal design.

During this programme, Dr.Moez I. Khakiani shall lecture on all the various aspects of tooth preparation with clinical relevance, followed by a demonstration on typodonts for PFM (posterior tooth) and PFZ/E max (anterior tooth). Following these participants shall be doing hands-on for the same under direct supervision.

• All prosthetic options available to a dentist; their pros and cons with clinical indications
• Margin designs for different crowns
• Amount of tooth reduction desirable for different crowns
• Which burs to use, when, where and how?
• Margin placement in relation to gingival crest: supra, sub, equi-gingival
• Preparation design for short clinical crowns
• How to ensure adequate occlusal clearance
• How to manage distal margin of upper second molars
• Pontic designs in FPD cases
• Importance of biologic width during tooth preparation
• Ensuring correct tooth preparation for:
> Cross bite cases
> Supra erupted teeth
> Tilted teeth
> Rotated teeth
• Hands-on session
