The target audience for this medical event is Naturopathic doctors, Internal Medicine, General Medicine, Family Practice, Cardiologists, Nutritionists, Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants involved in the treatment of patients with endocrine, immunological and neurological disorders.

Course Description:
Medicine is currently at a crossroads. In medicine, a protocol approach has historically been used. The science is now here to individualize and customize a patient’s care, and also to assess the etiology of the problem - not solely treating the symptoms.

The science is currently available to measure hormone levels, amino acids, fatty acids, organic acids, and neurotransmitters. New studies and medical therapies to aid in the evaluation of the patient’s gastrointestinal tract have been developed. Each medication that is prescribed by a healthcare provider potentially causes a nutritional depletion that has not been previously assessed in the field of medicine. We now have the capability to measure more than 35 nutrients in the body, and supplement the patient with the nutrients that are individualized to their specific needs based on environment and their own genetic histories.

The Complicated Hormonal Patient:
What do you do on Monday morning with the complicated hormonal patient? This question is the focus of this interactive seminar.

Objectives:
• Learn the interaction between different hormones in the body and to better understand how to manage a complicated hormone patient
• Understand the importance of fixing one clinical problem at a time
• Recognize that some patients with hormonal issues have to have other medical problems treated before their hormonal complaints can be addressed

The Very Complicated Patient: Where Do You Start?
One of the most difficult problems facing clinicians is where to begin with very complicated patients. This seminar will focus on the most complex type of patients that the participant will encounter.

Objectives:
• Understand that it is impossible to fix all active medical problems at one time
• Recognize the importance of a neurological diagnosis having multifactorial etiologies and hence multifactorial therapies
• Learn psychological overlays commonly play a major role in the complicated patient
• Learn that nutritional depletions caused by medications may be causing some of the patient’s complaints
