OVERVIEW
Sports Physiotherapy Level 1 Course is organized by Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) and will be held from Aug 25 - 26, 2018 at Australian Physiotherapy Association, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
The target audience for this medical event is Combination of graduate physiotherapists approximately up to 2 years after graduating, and any physiotherapist wishing to refine their sports physiotherapy assessment and management skills and techniques.
The new Level 1 Sports Course is the first step in the career pathway developed by Sports Physiotherapy Australia (SPA) National Committee is for individuals who aspire to become Sports Physiotherapists or obtain introductory learning to Sports Physiotherapy. The course teaches newly graduated physiotherapists skills in the assessment and diagnosis of sports injuries.
This course is aligned with the International Federation of Sports Physical Therapy (IFSPT) competency standards, so by completing this course, you can work towards being awarded the APA Sports Physiotherapist Title and subsequently the title of Registered International Sports Physical Therapist.
Course Objectives:
• To teach newly graduated physiotherapists or those entering sports environment for the first time, skills in basic assessment of sporting injuries to the knee, ankle, foot, hip and groin, spine, shoulder and thigh.
• Participants will also demonstrate competence (via recommended learning reinforced throughout the level 1 course) in emergency management of the injured athlete.
• To ensure that all participants can confidently diagnose and formulate a treatment plan for standard sports injuries. The course will also prepare participants for work within a sporting team and knowledge on travelling with a team, load monitoring, concussion assessment and management and introductory taping skills.
