OVERVIEW
Southeastern Symposium on Mental Health (SESMH) is organized by Greenville Health System (GHS) and will be held during May 18 - 19, 2018 at Hyatt Regency Greenville, Greenville, South Carolina, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 18.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
The Symposium theme for 2018 is - Mental Health Collaborations: Diversity and Inclusion – Integrating Research, Education, and Practice, and will be held on May 18th and 19th, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Greenville, South Carolina. The 2018 Symposium featured speakers will be former NIMH Director Dr. Thomas Insel, Emmy Award Winning Journalist, co-anchor of 20/20 and author of Between Breaths, Ms. Elizabeth Vargas, and State Director, South Carolina Department of Mental Health, Mr. John Magill among others. Additionally, our Pre-Conference speakers include Dr. Mark Weist, Professor in Clinical-Community and School Psychology in the Department of Psychology at the University of South Carolina (USC) and Dr. Elisabet Rainey, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
The 2018 Southeastern Symposium on Mental Health will feature:
• Top-notch psychiatrists, researchers, psychologists and clinicians providing tools and resources to advance and sustain recovery from mental illness
• Professional and mental health consumers discussing how they cope with their own mental illness and with clients or family members who have mental illness, while providing stories of experience and perspective on recovery
• Networking opportunities
• Topics about living with mental illness
• Cutting-edge research updates and innovative recovery initiatives
Our Mission:
• Develop Synergistic relationships among stakeholders, caregivers, academicians, healthcare professionals and community partners
• Foster dialogue and promote awareness of current trends in mental health treatment, practice, and research to achieve equity for mental health outcomes
• Encourage mental health advocacy and work towards the eradication of stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness and mental health treatment
• Improve access to mental health care through dissemination of information and resources
• Inform public policy and educational initiatives that promote awareness about mental health issue
