OVERVIEW
Palliative Care and the Critical Role of the Rehabilitation Professional: 2018 Continuing Education Course is organized by DMC - Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan and will be held on Jun 02, 2018 at Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, Detroit, Michigan, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is PT/PTA, OT/COTA, SLP, AT-C, RN, CM, MSW, Recreational Therapists, Rehab Trainers. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 4 Contact Hours.
Course Description:
This educational session will discuss the palliative care philosophy, similarities and differences between palliative care and hospice care, current rehabilitation practice approaches and practice patterns, a focus on the quality of life, and integration and complimenting hospital based-palliative care programs. Evidence-based palliative care approaches and functional outcome measures will be introduced in a case study format for clinicians to immediately apply to the clinical setting.
As a result of the course attendees will:
• Adapt their clinical rehabilitation practice model to incorporate current and future regulatory and administrative changes related to palliative care
• Apply the palliative care concepts within rehabilitation therapy’s practice to a patient across the spectrum of chronic disease and life-threatening illness
• Identify needed administrative support structure to facilitate rehab participation in palliative care and chronic disease management
• Identify opportunities to expand therapists involvement in the comprehensive management of the patient with the chronic disease after exposure to examples.
