Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology (OAO) Post Graduate Convention 2018

Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology (OAO) Post Graduate Convention is organized by Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology (OAO) and will be held during Mar 09 - 10, 2018 at World Forestry Center, Portland, Oregon, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is Ophthalmologist. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 13 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology. The American Academy of Ophthalmology is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Conference Objectives are :

• Identify a systematic method to detect glaucomatous optic disc and nerve fiber layer damage.
• Use a standard methodology to interpret results of standard automated perimetry.
• Distinguish the impact of variability and timing of automated perimetry on the ability to detect progression.
• Recognize the ability of retinal vasculature to reflect systemic implications.
• Identify the different measures of vascular structure.
• Recognize the impact of changes in vascular caliber – arteriolar and venular on complications of diabetes.
• Recognize the impact of changes in retinal vascular parameters on systemic disease risk.
• Formulate the criteria for screening for glaucoma, specifically the need for a highly specific method.
• Prioritize the strengths and weakness of current screening modalities including IOP, structure, and function.
• Identify the potential of using optic nerve and RNFL imaging for remote evaluation.
• Recognize developmental secondary glaucomas.
• Recognize progressive scleral thinning and the relationship to elevated IOP.
• Identify the possible role(s) and advantages of tissue adhesives in tube shunt surgery.
• Have improved ability and confidence evaluating patients with eyelid ptosis.
• Identify the features of involutional and myogenic ptosis.
• Be able to prioritize the most common surgical options for management of involutional ptosis.
• Distinguish the common symptoms of patients with facial synkinesis.
• Identify the anatomic basis of the common patterns of facial synkinesis.
• Use recent trends in cosmetic surgery utilization.
• Identify the most commonly utilized office-based cosmetic oculofacial techniques.
• Recognize options for aesthetic oculofacial surgical techniques.
• Hone skills of diagnosing orbital disorders.
• Distinguish diagnosis and management several common orbital inflammatory and neoplastic disorders.
• Recognize how to use CT and MR imaging of orbital disease, including MR angiography.
• Identify standard neuroimaging modalities and which imaging and sequences are appropriate for various indications/clinical scenarios.
