Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Hemophilia Course is organized by UC San Diego School of Medicine and will be held during Apr 18 - 20, 2018 at UC San Diego Health - Sports Medicine, Genesee Ave., San Diego, California, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and physical therapists involved and/or interested in MSKUS as point-of care imaging tool to assist with diagnosis and treatment of joint pains in people with hemophilia. Other healthcare professionals involved in hemophilia clinical care may benefit from this education program as well. Pediatric practitioners welcomed; though readings mainly apply to adolescents and adults. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 19.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Conference Description :
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Hemophilia, presented by UC San Diego School of Medicine, is a 2 ½ day hands-on course developed to provide training in musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) specific to hemophilic joint disease. The objective of the course is to enable hemophilia physicians to use MSKUS as a point-of care imaging tool to assist with the diagnosis and treatment of joint pains. The course is geared towards hemophilic joint disease to recognize joint bleeding, synovial hypertrophy and synovitis, cartilage degradation, osteochondral lesions and other structural joint abnormalities.
Leading MSK ultrasound experts will cover ultrasound scanning, sonoanatomy, and sonopathology pertaining to hemophilic joint disease through interactive lectures, case presentations, round table discussions, and advanced MSKUS imaging techniques including MSKUS examination of hemophilic joints. This program is currently the only hands-on scanning course that provides comprehensive training and experience in musculoskeletal ultrasound in hemophilia.
Conference Objectives are :
• Describe MSKUS basics and knobology.
• Operate an ultrasound machine.
• Describe sonoanatomy of ankles, knees and elbows.
• Apply standard transducer positions for hemophilia joint ultrasound.
• Distinguish bloody from non-bloody effusions.
• Perform a diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound recognizing hemarthrosis, synovitis and structural abnormalities (meniscus, tendons, ligaments).
• Quantify synovial hypertrophy and synovitis by Power Doppler.
• Quantify cartilage health and osteochondral lesions.
