Conference Description :
The latest in a continuing series of outreach CME programs designed to update primary care practitioners in the central Queens community with regard to the latest developments in cardiology and to assist in enhancing the integration of these advances into their clinical practices for the better patient.
Conference Objectives are :
• Understand the role of percutaneous closure of a patent foramen ovale, the current evidence for the procedure, and in which patients such a procedure is appropriate.
• Consider the underlying genetics underlying specific cardiac conditions.
• Discuss how to follow family members who are as yet undiagnosed and to obtain the appropriate genetic testing to define family members at risk.
• Review current guidelines for the pre-operative testing of cardiac patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery in order to improve outcomes and yet minimize unnecessary testing.
