AOSpine Basico-MIS Thoracolumbar Course: Introduction to Percutaneous Surgery in Degenerative and Traumatic Pathology is organized by AOSpine Europe and will be held during Apr 27 - 28, 2018 at Melia Lebreros, Sevilla, Andalucia, Spain.
Course Description:
Minimally Invasive Spinal Techniques have experienced a great development in recent years, evolving from fashion or experimental to a reality which is slowly changing and shaping the way in which surgeons approach the management of spine disease.
This course , based on the AOSpine curriculum format, will provide an overview of the different techniques, focusing on Thoracolumbar degenerative and traumatic disease, which accounts for the most frequent scenarios in which these procedures are considered or performed in standard practice.
A combination of interactive lectures and practical hands-on exercises will offer the participants updated exposure to the various procedures, learning the basic steps for optimal performance and providing a frame for development of evidence-based decision making in the management of spine disease.
Learning Objectives:
• Quote the updated level of evidence in the literature related to the use of these techniques compared to more traditional surgeries in specific patients
• Safely perform the basic surgical steps of the techniques in uncomplicated cases
• Classify thoracolumbar fractures using a system relevant to decision-making
• Assess, improve and receive feedback on their individual skills in 3D spatial orientation
Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
