53rd Annual Meeting by American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) is organized by American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) and will be held from Oct 03 - 07, 2018 at The Westin Westminster, Westminster, Colorado, United States of America.

Clinical New Endocrinology:
This program has been designed for endocrinologists, internists, family physicians, pediatricians, naturopaths, nurse practitioners and physician assistants and other clinicians who treat endocrine disorders. This course will provide comprehensive updates to improve screening, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of various endocrine disorders.

Molecular and genetic biology has revolutionized endocrinology. Practitioners are beginning to expand their methods to encompass these new concepts. This course re-examines established principles and practices and offers enhanced alternatives resulting from integrating this new research, nutritional and complementary approaches. Emphasis is placed on "New Endocrinology" concepts such as reappraising the significance of laboratory tests; the importance of adaptation and maladaptive responses; receptor plasticity with up- and down-regulation of responses; pre-hormones and modification of hormone effects at the tissue level and the significance of hormone balance. Categories of dysfunction to be discussed include stress and adrenal fatigue; autoimmune thyroid disease, iodine and euthyroid sick syndrome; ageing and steroid sex hormone dysfunction, withdrawal and deficiency in both sexes; challenges to healthy bones and a six-point approach to understand, prevent and resolve the ill-consequences of insulin-resistance. Actual case reports will be presented to demonstrate organized, Environmental Medicine approaches to these problems.

Conference Objectives are :
• Evaluate the typical clinical features of common endocrine diseases.
• Identify at-risk patients who should be screened for endocrine conditions.
• Select appropriate diagnostic tests for patients with possible endocrine disorders.
• Choose evidence-based, cost-effective therapeutic options for patients with endocrine disorders.

LDA: Low Dose Allergen Therapy :
To begin the meeting, I will teach and review basic LDA treatment and add my most recent experiences with the LDA treatment of allergy and autoimmune diseases. Dr. Vincent will not be here this year, so we will have the remainder of the meeting to focus on LDA and LDA treatment of autoimmune diseases with bacterial and autologous stool antigens. Barry Smeltzer, the P.A. who practices with Don Sprague in Texas, will give a presentation of his experience with Proteus/Klebsiella for a number of diverse conditions.

This activity is designed to teach physicians from all specialty and subspecialty groups, naturopaths licensed in states where they are licensed to administer injections, nurse practitioners and nurses, and other licensed health care professionals how to administer LDA immunotherapy as an addition to, or a substitution for the immunotherapy they currently employ.

Conference Objectives are :
• Explain the general purposes for LDA therapy, how to implement and determine dosage selection.
• Discuss the application of LDA immunotherapy for the general treatment of autoimmune diseases & molecular mimicry.
• Assess the use of LDA with autologous vaccines (stool) for severe autoimmune arthritis.

Microbiome: the Environment, Genetics and Disease :
Physicians must possess and maintain a wide-ranging knowledge base regarding a variety of topics covering all body systems as well as common and uncommon disorders. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine’s goal is to educate and enable practitioners to recognize the potential role of the human microbiome in various disease states.

Interest in the role of the microbiome in human health has exploded over the past ten years. An increasing number of studies propose that part of what determines how the human body functions may be not only our genes, but also the genes of the trillions of microbes that live on and in our bodies. Taken collectively, these organisms outnumber our own human cells 10 to 1, making up 5 pounds of our body weight. Studies are discovering that our bacteria (or lack of) can be associated with: obesity, malnutrition, heart disease, diabetes, celiac disease, eczema, asthma, multiple sclerosis, colitis, some cancers, autism and potentially in fatty liver disease.

This conference will acquaint health care professionals with validated alternative methods, so they can provide their patients better-informed advice. The presentations will improve front line-clinicians’ ability to recognize the role of the human microbiome in specific disease states. Practitioners will learn to employ Environmental Medicine methods to improve treatment for the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

• Recognize the emerging science regarding the impact of genetics and the environment on the microbiome.
• Explain how lifestyle choices change the nature of the microbiome and the metabolic significance of these changes
• Discuss how leading edge novel techniques to restore a healthy microbiome may pave the way for meaningful treatment of autism, autoimmune conditions and inflammatory disorders.
