OVERVIEW
Innovation in Psychiatry: Effective Interventions for Health and Society Congress is organized by Kenes Group and will be held during Feb 25 - 28, 2018 at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
The target audience for this medical event is international, regional and national psychiatrists and specialists from related disciplines including primary care doctors. The audience will include senior and early career psychiatrists and other professionals. Each will benefit from the information and discussions, as we will cover clinical decision-making and planning and policy matters. Because of the diverse, clinically focused educational offering, participants are able to tailor the curriculum to meet the needs of international clinicians of all levels experience. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 23 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Course Description:
The Congress theme of innovation captures this imperative. Participants will be challenged to consider how effective mental health programs can be co-designed and scaled up across the globe. Psychiatry is part of the public health system, relevant to health promotion, prevention, and healthcare. We'll look at how a revitalized and redesigned psychiatry can offer a great deal to society including longer more productive lives and stronger economies. Unlike other non-communicable diseases, mental illness is a domain where a major return on investment is possible; we'll discuss the major rethink that's required in how care is conceived and delivered to realize this possibility. We'll talk about how timing in the life cycle and illness stage are critical, while cultures of care and use of the Internet and technology are foci for innovation. We'll also consider the political momentum we can generate through presentation of a united front with the public, people affected by mental ill-health, families and friends, community groups, scientific researchers and all mental health professionals.
Course Objectives :
After attending this event, participants should be able to:
• Address individual needs in compliance with their Continuous Professional Development (CPD) plan. • Analyse newest achievements in neuroscience and their application to evidence-based clinical practice in psychiatry.
• Review latest achievements in clinical and translational research in the field of early intervention in psychosis and other mental disorders.
• Discuss new research outcomes in the management of depression and bipolar disorders.
• Analyse social cognition in schizophrenia: pathophysiology, functional implications and treatment options.
• Review the state of global psychiatric care and innovations in care for people with substance abuse.
• Enhance the discussion and exchange among international psychiatrists and researchers as a means of further developing individual expertise.
• Discuss the role of psychiatry in suicide prevention.
• Discuss the role of psychiatry in intervening with people exposed to trauma.
• Discuss the role of psychiatry in primary health care.
• Debate on the importance of human rights in mental health care and promoting mental health.
