Course Description :
This course is designed to provide the NSBDE required training for dentists and hygienists. This course has also been approved for 2 hours of continuing education credit by the CDA and complies with the California Code of Regulations 1005 – Minimum Standards for Infection Control.
Infection control guidelines as developed by the CDC will be addressed. Participants will review the scientific evidence about dental infection control issues and current CDC recommendations for minimizing the potential for disease transmission in the dental setting.
Conference Objectives:
At the end of this course, participants should be able to:
• Describe universal and standard precautions
• Identify and describe disease transmission and infectious hazards in the dental setting
• Discuss occupational exposures and prevention, post-exposure management and prophylaxis to bloodborne pathogens
• Establish objectives, goals, and management of an infection control program in the dental setting
