OVERVIEW
Improving Patient Safety: An Analysis of Dental Risks and Liability is organized by University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) School of Dental Medicine and will be held on Feb 10, 2018 at UNLV School of Dental Medicine, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is dentists and dental staff. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 3 CEU credits.
This course presents strategies to enhance quality care and patient safety by identifying potential malpractice issues and associated clinical risk management principles. Topics, including dental extractions and implants, failure to diagnose oral cancer and periodontal disease, opioid management, communication, documentation, the informed consent process, and HIPAA/HITECH regulations, will be explored through a comprehensive analysis of dental claims. This three hour lecture is designed for dentists and dental staff. There are no prerequisites.
Conference Objectives:
At the end of this course, participants should:
• Build a foundational knowledge of the etiology of hard and soft tissue lesions of the head and neck and oral cavity.
• Understand the relationship between the SOAP-P approach to the clinical evaluation of pathologic problems and clinical andradiographic patterns of pathology.
• Know the importance of LOCATION in the differential diagnosis of hard and soft tissue lesions of the oral cavity.
• Know the importance of SURFACE features in the differential diagnosis of soft tissue lesions of the oral mucosa.
• Describe the terminology associated with PATTERN RECOGNITION of radiographic anomalies and surface descriptors of mucosal softtissue lesions.
• Appreciate the importance of early diagnosis of oral hard and soft tissue lesions.
• Critically evaluate relevant oral and maxillofacial pathologic, radiographic and dermatologic scientific literature regarding hard andsoft tissue lesions.
