OVERVIEW

Exenterative Surgery for Pelvic Cancers: Current Practices and Future Directions is organized by The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and will be held from Sep 27 - 28, 2018 at The Royal Marsden School, London, England, United Kingdom.

The target audience for this medical event is pelvic cancer surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, anaesthetists and clinical nurse specialists and to those currently involved in managing patients with recurrent pelvic cancer.

Conference Description:
This two-day conference is devoted to the practice of exenterative surgery. Although, these operations are numerically a small part of the practice of colorectal, urological and gynaecological cancer surgeons, they are resource and labour-intensive, requiring long operating times, intensive care and long hospitalisation. Key considerations are case selection, and a well-planned and coordinated team approach involving diagnostic specialists, surgical specialists including plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anaesthetists and clinical nurse specialists. The balance is to maximise outcome in terms of survival but minimise the short and long term morbidity, maintaining or improving the patient’s quality of life. The conference will highlight current practice, recent improvements and innovations and take an optimistic and realistic look at future directions.

Topics include:
• Case selection
• Peri-operative care
• Current practices
• Problem cases/controversies
• Surgical innovations and future directions

Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
