Conference Description :
The course will briefly discuss the speaker's approach to orthodontic and orthopedic diagnosis and treatment both in routine treatment and in difficult patients. First, the speaker will present his own experiments in experimental and clinical studies, describing how his approach to treatment has evolved over four decades of work.
In the second part of the course, specific topics in the field of orthodontics and dental-facial orthopedics will be discussed. Whenever possible, facts will be recalled to identify appropriate treatment procedures. The following issues will be discussed:
• The importance of time to start treatment depending on the type of malocclusion.
• The role of cervical spine maturation (CVM) in the planning of diagnosis and treatment.
• The definitive correction of malocclusion with class II with Carriere Motion, Herbst and the Pendex apparatus in both growth patients and adult patients.
• The use of face mask, anchored skeletal interparticular elastic elements and the Carriere Motion device in patients with bite defects in class III.
• The use of rapid jaw expansion in the treatment of defects in the size of dentition and dental arch.
• Stimulation of spontaneous improvement in malocclusion in class II and class III.
