European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) Telomere biology in health and human disease Workshop is organized by European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) and will be held during May 01 - 06, 2018 at Aqualuz Suite Hotel Apartamentos Troia Mar, Troia, Coimbra, Portugal.
The target audience for this medical event is bringing together basic, translational and clinical telomere researchers who are studying the mechanisms underlying telomere homeostasis and exploiting these recent discoveries for the benefit of human health.
Conference Description :
This EMBO Workshop will focus on the molecular mechanisms of telomere biology and how this is compromised in human genetic disorders, ageing and cancer. This reflects exciting recent developments in the field linking shelterin and telomerase pathway mutations to a range of human diseases. Together with these clinical developments, recent technical advances have also revealed unexpected new insights into telomere biology at the level of single molecules and in whole organisms.
The principal themes of the meeting will, therefore, focus on the latest advances in telomere function and regulation and how this can be exploited for diagnostics, anti-cancer approaches and treatment/management of telomere dysfunction disorders.
A major objective of the meeting will be to provide a forum for open and stimulating discussions between key basic, translational and clinical scientists and young researchers who have recently joined the field.
Conference Objectives are :
• Telomere replication and length regulation.
• Stem cells and cancer.
• Telomerase biogenesis and function.
• Consequences of telomere dysfunction.
• Telomere proteins and protein modifications.
• Telomere length and disease.
• Mechanisms of telomere maintenance.
• Telomeric RNA and chromatin.
Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
