OVERVIEW

Essentials in Pain Management: Update 2018 is organized by Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) and will be held on Nov 13, 2018 at Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Heart Center, New York City, New York, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is physicians, Residents, Fellows, Medical Students, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and all other medical professionals involved in the evaluation, diagnosis and/or management of patients with chronic pain. It includes those in the practice of Pain Management throughout the fields of Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine, Hospitalist Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Primary Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation Medicine and Surgical Specialties. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 7.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Course Description:
This course will enhance understanding of non-opioid related advances in Pain Management. It will provide a guided approach to the management of several complex pain conditions. This will include understanding the comorbidities associated with pain and the innovative therapies and interventional techniques to address these issues. The conference will inform the attendees with several of the latest non opioid treatment strategies like trans-cranial magnetic stimulation and stem cell therapy. It will also provide information regarding the integration of traditional medicine techniques and nutritional therapies in pain management and impart an understanding on novel pharmaco-therapeutics such as CRGP and cannabinoids in the treatment of pain.

Learning Objectives:
• Identify a guided approach to common yet extremely complex chronic pain conditions
• Identify and understand the management of pain related comorbidities like sleep, functional limitations, metabolic disarray and psychopathology for optimal management of complicated pain conditions
• Understand the approach to drug toxicology screening in patients to provide safe and effective care
• Understand new non opioid targets and the emerging pharmacotherapy in pain medicine with a focus on epigenetics, CRGP, Cannabinoids and nutritional therapies
• Delineate a multidisciplinary approach to chronic pain management and integrating cutting edge interventions including nerve ablations, transcranial magnetic stimulation, regenerative medicine techniques, as well as spinal cord, peripheral nerve and dorsal root ganglion stimulation with traditional medicine strategies
