Conference Description :
Damage to the skin as a result of a burn or scald increases an individual's susceptibility to infection, which can of course lead to severe complications that may prove to be fatal. Even after the critical and emergency care stage of burn injury management has been successfully administered, there is still the potential for life long scarring to have a devastating affect on an individual's sense of wellbeing and quality of life.

Clinical Overview of Burn Injury Management is a one-day CPD certified conference that will have a strong emphasis on the need to consider both the emotional and physical wellbeing of an individual afflicted with a burn or scald injury. This CPD certified conference aims to bring together plastic surgeons, as well as clinical microbiologists and any healthcare professional involved in the management of burn injury to expand their knowledge on the most recent advances in infection control, reconstructive surgery and scar management.

After overcoming the potentially fatal increased susceptibility to infection during the initial stages of burn injury management, the potential for lifelong scarring can have serious implications on mental health. This conference, therefore, aims to gather clinicians and update their knowledge on all the innovations that have been made in infection control, reconstructive surgery and scar management strategies.

• Gain perspective on global burns research and practice
