Basic Assessment and Support in Intensive Care Course is organized by The Alfred Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and will be held during May 07 - 08, 2018 at The Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Conference Description :
This two-day comprehensive course is provided to internal junior medical staff at The Alfred and a growing number of external candidates.

Originally developed by Charles Gomersall and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, this international course is provided by Alfred intensive care specialists and is continually updated and rewritten to reflect best practice relevant to intensive care in Australia.

Basic comprises lectures and skill stations, using simulation and group work to learn new techniques and equipment as well as the approach to the sick patient. Information is supplemented with a free course manual and CD sent out prior to course commencement (approximately four weeks prior to the course start date).

Attendance is compulsory for all Alfred junior medical staff who must successfully complete the course and assessments in order to work in the intensive care unit. Non-Alfred medical professionals can book online for this course.

This course is an introduction to intensive care for doctors in training and doctors who care for the critically ill in any setting. It is also suitable for senior nurses working in intensive care or other critical care areas.

Please note that you will not be granted automatic recognition, you must make a claim with your College.

CPD Points:
• Lectures: Cat 2A - 1 point per hour (8Hrs 20Mins)
• Skill Station: Cat 3B- 3 points per hour (6Hrs 0Mins)
