Africa Pharma Conference 2018

Africa Pharma Conference 2018 is organized by African Union Commission (AUC), New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) Agency / Agence du Nouveau partenariat pour le developpement de l'Afrique, DFS Africa and will be held from Nov 19 - 21, 2018 at African Union Commission (AUC), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Conference Description :
The Africa Pharma Conference is the largest congregation of professionals and experts across the Pharmaceutical and Access to Medicines value chain across Africa. The Conference seeks amongst other things to promote the implementation of the Accelerated Industrial Development of Africa (AIDA), the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plan for Africa (PMPA) and the UN General Assembly's Third Industrial Development Decade for Africa (IDDA3).

The conference aims to facilitate concrete actions that will improve access to affordable essential medicines and catalyse local production in Africa by harnessing high-level political commitment, workable solutions and private sector financing contributing significantly to a healthy African society. This conference will also afford African Union affiliates, both regional and international across Pharmaceutical manufacturing, Healthcare and Devices manufacturing to introduce the implementation strategy of PMPA.

Conference Objectives :
The overall aim of the forum is to facilitate concrete action that will improve universal access to quality-assured affordable essential medicines and catalyse local production in Africa by harnessing high-level political commitment and workable solutions.

The forum will :
• Examine the evidence as it relates to constraints and how to overcome them, opportunities and propose a number of concrete steps that can be implemented by governments to develop LPP.
• Consider a broad range of related issues including those of harmonization of regulatory protocols, research and development, production, quality control, distribution, testing and diagnosis and health care capacity development, as well as incentives that can boost local production on the African continent such as the African Medicines Agency and other health systems initiatives.
• Facilitate and forge business to business partnerships.
• Articulate a set of recommended actions.
