OVERVIEW

Advanced ECG and Pharmacology Course is organized by Academy of Advanced Life Support and will be held on Jan 19, 2018 at Academy of Advanced Life Support, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.

The target audience for this medical event is Cardiologists, all healthcare professionals whose responsibilities require them to recognize and interpret life-threatening arrhythmias and ECG rhythms, and to provide initial emergency care and appropriate pharmacological interventions. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 9 Continuing Education Units.

Conference Description :
The Courses teach the knowledge required to identify and stabilize adult patients presenting with a variety of electrocardiographic abnormalities, together with the clinical and applied pharmacology relevant to cardiovascular emergencies. Numerous clinical examples and illustrations are provided to participants.

Course Aims and Objectives:

The Basic ECG and Pharmacology Course provides a systematic approach to the recognition and emergency management of bradycardias, tachycardias, supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias, atrioventricular blocks, pacing, pacemakers and synchronized cardioversion.

The Advanced ECG and Pharmacology Course includes, in addition to the above, a comprehensive and systematic approach to the recognition and emergency interpretation of the 12-lead ECG, including acute coronary syndromes, electrolyte and metabolic disturbances, aberrant conduction pathways, etc.

The Emergency Electrocardiography Module provides a foundational knowledge of cardiac anatomy and the relationship of the conduction system to this anatomy, together with an understanding of the electrophysiology of cardiac electrical activation and current conduction.

The Clinical and Applied Pharmacology Module provides an understanding of the indications and technique of administration of drugs used in cardiovascular emergencies, including vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, agents to control rate, reperfusion, and acute coronary syndrome adjuncts. The use of these agents are integrated into evidence-based medicine algorithms for easy reference and memory retention.
