Conference Description:
The purpose of this seven hour lecture and case review course is to provide the dental health care practitioner with information concerning patient history gathering and physical and radiographic examination regarding the identification and diagnosis of oral hard and soft tissue lesions. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of Location, Surface and Pattern Recognitation terminology regarding the differential diagnosis of oral hard and soft tissue lesions.

Conference Objectives:
At the end of this course, participants should:
• Build a foundational knowledge of the etiology of hard and soft tissue lesions of the head and neck and oral cavity.
• Understand the relationship between the SOAP-P approach to the clinical evaluation of pathologic problems and clinical and radiographic patterns of pathology.
• Know the importance of LOCATION in the differential diagnosis of hard and soft tissue lesions of the oral cavity.
• Know the importance of SURFACE features in the differential diagnosis of soft tissue lesions of the oral mucosa.
• Describe the terminology associated with PATTERN RECOGNITION of radiographic anomalies and surface descriptors of mucosal soft tissue lesions.
• Appreciate the importance of early diagnosis of oral hard and soft tissue lesions. • Critically evaluate relevant oral and maxillofacial pathologic, radiographic and dermatologic scientific literature regarding hard and soft tissue lesions.
