70th Annual Meeting of The Florida Urological Society is organized by Florida Urological Society (FUS) and will be held from Aug 30 - Sep 02, 2018 at Saddlebrook Resort, Wesley Chapel, Florida, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is medical students, residents, fellows and practicing physicians in the field of urology. The program applies to physicians with all levels of experience and covers diverse topics relevant to this specialty. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 17.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
The field of urology covers a broad spectrum of both benign and malignant diseases of the genitourinary system, including the kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate, urethra and male external genitalia. Clinical research evidence to guide the evidence-based practice of urology continues to evolve rapidly; however outside CME events, urologists have limited opportunity to familiarize themselves with evolving diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to the disease they treat on a day-to-day basis.
The objectives of this meeting are to provide Florida urologists with a convenient opportunity to educate themselves about the state-of-the art management of urological diseases and engage with expert faculty of national prominence. Particular emphasis will be provided via recommendations from evidence-based clinical practice guidelines as well as continued quality improvement in urological patient care. Specific lecture sessions surrounding the detection and treatment of prostate, bladder and kidney cancer will update the urologist on the latest technology available to enhance their clinical practice and outcomes.
Conference Objectives are :
• Explain the current state of stress incontinence surgery and MESH.
• Describe the surgical techniques and outcomes for prolapse repair.
• Identify the latest UDS guidelines.
• Employ an evidence-based algorithm for approaching the diagnostic and therapeutic management of overactive and neurogenic bladder.
• Discuss the concepts to work-up and treat female bladder outlet obstruction.
• Identify novel management options for male infertility.
• List the options for vaginal rejuvenation.
• Identify the role of regenerative medicine in the management of erectile dysfunction.
• Identify controversies in testosterone therapy including cardiovascular risk and use in prostate cancer patients.
• Identify techniques to medically manage Peyronies disease.
• Describe the surgical techniques for Peyronies disease.
• Explain the physician role in the stewardship of antibiotics in urology.
• Identify factors in medical malpractice cases.
• Discuss physician workforce demands in Urology.
• Review the management options for prostate cancer patients with high risk disease.
• Describe the role of robotic radical cystectomy in the management of bladder cancer.
• Describe role of robotic and laparoscopic platforms in renal surgery.
• Describe the medical metabolic management of kidney stones.
• Explain the evaluation and the surgical management of nephrolithiasis.
• Explain techniques in maximizing shockwave lithotripsy, ureteroscopy and PCNL results.
• Explain the latest surgical minimally invasive options for BPH in males.
• Discuss the outcomes of HOLEP versus simple prostatectomy for very large prostate glands.
• Identify indications for prostate artery embolization and outcomes.
• Describe the role of novel imaging modalities in metastatic prostate cancer.
• Describe the role of MRI in prostate cancer diagnosis with biopsy.
• Discuss of the role of focal therapy in prostate cancer.
• Identify indications for salvage or adjuvant radiation for previously treated prostate cancer.
• Identify current concepts in the management of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.
• Review use of novel targeted immunotherapy agents in urologic cancers.
• Explain the role of renal mass biopsy in clinical practice.
• Explain management strategies in upper tract transitional cell carcinoma.
• Describe the role of adjuvant systemic treatment in high risk renal cell carcinoma.
• Review the role of PET and hybrid PET/MRI imaging for GU cancers.
