OVERVIEW
44th Annual Problems in Pediatrics is organized by Colby College and will be held from Jul 09 - 13, 2018 at Colby College, Waterville, Maine, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is Practicing pediatricians, family physicians, pediatric nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care professionals. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 16.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Course Description:
For the past 43 years, Colby College has offered a pediatric course as part of Colby's continuing medical education programs. This summer's course will provide a balanced update on a wide range of current, clinically relevant topics for the practicing pediatrician.
The course features 45-minute lectures followed by 15-minute discussions as well as case studies and interactive presentations. The faculty initiates the topics and facilitates the following discussions in a relaxed forum, which encourages the mutual exchange of views and data and allows ample time for participant-faculty interaction.
Colby has been host to educational programs for the medical and allied health professions since 1945 and is the only private liberal arts college in the nation accredited to offer Category 1 credit of the Physician's Recognition AwardCredits of the American Medical Association. Each summer the courses attract registrants from all across the country, and this diverse geographic representation enhances the exchange of ideas that course participants especially value. Our friendly, courteous staff, small course size, accessible faculty, and timely topics make a CME program at Colby a quality experience.
This educational experience is relaxed and informal. Come join us in Maine this summer.
Conference Objectives are :
• recognize congestive heart failure in the newborn period
• describe cardiac complications of Kawasaki Disease
• review treatments for common and challenging pediatric dermatology cases
• differentiate bacterial skin infections in children
• explain common and uncommon etiologies of wheezing in children
• discuss evidence of dexamethasone vs. prednisone in acute asthma attacks
• describe key anticipatory guidance topics to be included in well child and sick visits
• illustrate how insertion of contraception implants can be integrated into general practice
• recognize common pubertal disorders
• discuss indications to treat hypothyroidism in children
• develop an approach for the diagnosis of commonly encountered upper GI tract diseases
• identify common GI causes of infant fussiness
• diagnose and treat tick-borne infections
• match the bug with the appropriate drug for common pediatric infections
