2018 UVA Johns Wooten Neurological Symposium is organized by University of Virginia and will be held on May 12, 2018 at University of Virginia Pinn Hall (formerly Jordan Hall), School Of Medicine, Charlottesville, Virginia, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is Physicians Physicians in Training, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 5.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Conference Description :
The landscape of therapies and diagnostic tools for the management of neurological diseases continues to evolve. How to incorporate new therapies and diagnostic tools into clinical practice is a challenge faced by all neurologists. In this symposium speakers will discuss advances and perspectives on the management of stroke, multiple sclerosis, dementia, spinal muscular atrophy and other neuromuscular diseases.

In addition, there will be presentations on new multi-disciplinary brain research at UVA (The Brain Institute) and UVA’s involvement in a new integrated statewide research institute (Translational Health Research Institute of Virginia - thrive).

Our symposium will provide neurologists the opportunity to update their clinical practice and learn more effective ways to treat and diagnose their patients.

Conference Objectives are :
• Explain the history and development of the Electromyogram (EMG) and neuromuscular disease
• Distinguish the risks and benefits associated with current oral and infusion MS therapies currently available for MS patients
• Discuss the current state of diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and the major research advances that may lead to improved diagnostic, treatment, and prevention efforts
• Describe the multi-disciplinary brain research at UVA
• Understand the mission and components of iTHRIV
• Discuss the presentation, diagnostic approach, available treatment options and emerging therapies of the various forms of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)
• Recall updated guidelines in acute stroke treatment and innovation in emergency stroke care
