OVERVIEW
2018 Otolaryngology Ultrasound Course: American College of Surgeons Thyroid, Parathyroid and Neck is organized by University of Virginia and will be held on May 05, 2018 at University of Virginia Pinn Hall (formerly Jordan Hall), School Of Medicine, Charlottesville, Virginia, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is practicing physicians and surgical residents. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 7.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Conference Description :
The objective of this course is to introduce the practicing physician to office-based ultrasound examination of the thyroid and parathyroid glands and related pathology. The distinction of normal from malignant lymphadenopathy is taught during a demonstration of the comprehensive examination of lymph node basins in cervical zones I-VI. The process of ultrasound-guided FNA of thyroid nodules and enlarged lymph nodes are demonstrated in didactic lecture format. Participants will be instructed in the practical details and hurdles in developing office-based ultrasound.
The use of patient volunteers will allow supervised hands-on experience with transverse and longitudinal ultrasound methods. During the skill sessions, the course participant will learn varied techniques of FNA of lesions in phantom models.
Conference Objectives are :
• Recognize normal anatomy of the neck during the ultrasound examination.
• Describe and demonstrate two methods of ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration of thyroid nodules or neck lymph nodes.
• Demonstrate a systematic approach to ultrasound examination of the thyroid and parathyroid glands as well as the cervical nodal basins in levels I-VI.
Prerequisite:
Registrants must have completed the “Ultrasound for Surgeons: The Basic Course, 3rd Edition Online Course” prior to registration. There is an additional charge for this prerequisite.
There is no walk-in registration for this course.
