OVERVIEW
2018 Mini Residency in Dental Sleep Medicine is organized by University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry and will be held during Apr 21 - Aug 18, 2018 at UCSF School of Dentistry, San Francisco, California, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is designed for general dentists, dental specialists, and the entire dental team. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 8 Category I Units / day.
Course dates :
Saturdays: April 21, June 16, July 21, & August 18, 2018
Course Description:
This Course is designed for dental professionals to develop in-depth knowledge and clinical procedures for treating sleep-related breathing disorders. Participants will become skilled at utilizing oral appliance therapy in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), sleep disordered breathing, and snoring patients in their practices.
The medical lecturers are experts in sleep medicine, coming from both the UCSF and Stanford Schools of Medicine. Additional speakers were selected from all over North America to provide a distinguished international faculty.
Educational Objectives:
• Define the dental and medical terminology used in sleep medicine and OSA.
• Describe the pathophysiology, demographics and sequelae of OSA.
• Analyze and evaluate polysomnogram reports.
• Describe the role of medical evaluation and the multidisciplinary membership.
• Describe the treatment options available for OSA including the indications, contraindications, complications and the side effects associated with each.
• Describe the practical concepts required for building a successful dental sleep medicine practice including informed consent, relationships with physicians, sources of patient referrals, follow-up for patients, records keeping, and medical insurance billing.
