2018 Food Allergy Management in Schools

OVERVIEW
2018 Code Ana(phylaxis) Summit: Managing Food Allergy in Schools is organized by University of Virginia and will be held on Apr 21, 2018 at Residence Inn by Marriott Charlottesville Downtown, Charlottesville, Virginia, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is School nurses, teachers, and other school personnel. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 6.00 Contact Hours.
Conference Description :
Although federal and state guidelines require schools to have medical emergency response plans in place, schools are challenged with managing an increasing number of students with medical issues but without increasing school resources. Specifically, schools in Virginia have access to stock epinephrine auto-injectors; however, schools are not provided with MD-led training or logistical support on how to respond to such a medical emergency. The Code Ana program seeks to fill this gap and the second annual Code Ana Summit will provide attendees with interactive workshops through which they will create the blueprint of their school’s response plan. Relevant “quick chat” lectures will be interspersed throughout the day.
This network will allow attendees to reach out to each other at later dates for feedback and encouragement, thus continuing the conversation and troubleshooting discussions of how to best manage food allergy and other chronic medical diseases in the school setting.
Conference Objectives are :
• Attendees will be able to define food allergy.
• Attendees will be able to differentiate food allergies from food intolerance.
• Attendees will be able to compare and contrast different school strategies to food allergy management.
• Attendees will be able to develop a medical emergency response plan
