OVERVIEW
17th Annual Meeting of the NRW State Association in the DGI. eV is organized by MCI Germany GmbH and will be held during Apr 13 - 14, 2018 at Maritim Hotel Cologne, Koln, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Course Description:
In recent years, we have seen that the traditionally artisanal skills of our profession are undergoing an almost radical change due to new products from the dental industry. Digital technologies are making their way into dentistry and dental technology. By and large, digital workflow has become established in prosthetics and implantology. Prosthetic rehabilitation can be carried out digitally from functional analysis via intraoral optical scanning during impression taking to the use of CAD / CAM technology in the manufacture of tooth-colored restorations. However, the mental and physical effort that must be provided by the practitioner in these innovative treatment concepts is by no means less than was the case in the age of conventional, mechanically-oriented operation.
Implantologic successes still depend on the manual surgical skill of the physician. It is to be welcomed that the dental industry is taking advantage of promising stimuli emerging from digital technology to bring new innovative products to market. In doing so, the cost-benefit ef- fect must be scrupulously scrutinized from the point of view of the patient as well as the practitioner and examined for the evidence-based nature of certain forms of therapy.
