OVERVIEW
Ultrasound Update is organized by UC Davis Health System and would be held during Sep 16 - 17, 2017 at Hilton Sacramento Arden West, Sacramento, California, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event for radiologists and gynecologists/obstetricians as well as nurses, medical sonographers, and other professional health-care team members who use and/or need to improve their ability to perform ultrasound scans.This cme conference has been approved with maximum of 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
This course is designed to change physician competence regarding the criteria for diagnosing ultrasound abnormalities. Course participants’ evaluations and community physician annual needs assessment surveys have identified the need for cutting edge information about obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound. Also, newer techniques have recently been introduced, including contrast-enhanced ultrasound, and ultrasound elastography in which there is a need for a better understanding. There will also be a review of newer ultrasound modalities including the use of elastography not only in the liver, but also in the breast and thyroid. There will be an extensive review of first trimester ultrasound including fetal anatomy that may be visualized at the time of nuchal translucency scan. There will be a review of identification of amnions and chorions during the first trimester of pregnancy. Specific fetal anomalies will be reviewed, including review of fetal CNS anomalies that may be detected with both ultrasound and the use of MRI. There will be a review of the pitfalls encountered in obstetrical ultrasound, as well as a review of specific anatomical regions of the fetus including the chest and the heart. A review of ultrasound use in evaluation of pelvic pain and evaluation of adnexal masses will be presented.
Learning Objectives are :
At the end of the activity, participants should be able to:
• Assess the utility of ultrasound in the evaluation of the fetal chest.
• Explain the ultrasound clues for practitioners to help better detect fetal anatomy in the first trimester.
• Identify the sonographic findings that are most commonly encountered with fetal cardiac abnormalities.
• Review ultrasound features of specific cerebral malformations and show how MRI may be useful in these cases.
• Recognize certain pitfalls that may be encountered in gynecological ultrasound.
• Demonstrate how contrast-enhanced ultrasound may be used to evaluate the liver.
• Interpret utility of elastography of solid organs including the liver.
• Classify the sonographic and MRI features of placenta accreta, and the significance of this entity.
• Discriminate between different fetal gastrointestinal tract anomalies and understand the significance of these anomalies.
• Better discriminate between different adnexal masses by sonography.
