TB Interviewing for Contact Investigation Course is organized by Global Tuberculosis Institute (GTBI) and would be held on Oct 03, 2017 at Global Tuberculosis Institute, Newark, New Jersey, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event for public health nurses, outreach workers, disease investigators and others who conduct and/or oversee TB contact investigations. This cme conference has been approved with a maximum of 18.0 contact hours.

Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to familiarize the learner with all aspects of the tuberculosis contact investigation process through a variety of didactic, interactive exercises, and role playing practice sessions. The topics will include TB transmission and pathogenesis, fundamentals of the contact investigation process, deciding when to initiate an investigation, determining the infectious period, prioritizing contacts, the TB interview, and congregate settings.

Conference Objectives are :
• Recognize the characteristics of the index patient associated with increased risk of TB transmission
• Outline the steps and process to successfully conduct a TB contact investigation
• Apply effective communication and interviewing techniques in conducting a TB contact investigation
• Explain what factors should be considered when prioritizing contacts for medical evaluation
• Interpret guidelines to accurately determine the period of infectiousness for the index patient.
