Course Description:
This course is designed for physiotherapists who would like to increase/improve their physiotherapy knowledge and skills in the assessment and management of patients with acute medical and/or surgical conditions. This course would be applicable for those working with these populations during the week, weekend or on a casual basis.

Course Objectives:
• review some common pathologies and diseases seen in the acute care setting
• increase awareness of best practice guidelines and evidence-informed practice for a variety of pathologies and diseases commonly seen in the acute care setting
• teach how to integrate cardiorespiratory assessment findings and develop evidence based treatment programs for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions
• improve advanced clinical reasoning skills in the assessment and treatment of acute medical and surgical patients
