The difficulty with identification and diagnosis often lies in the fact that people with personality disorders often have other, more easily recognisable mental disorders, such as depression, anxiety, psychotic disorders and substance-abuse disorders. While these are being diagnosed, the personality disorder often goes undiagnosed or unaddressed.

Identifying what works in the treatment of PD is a complex question. Many professionals still consider these disorders as untreatable, however, recent evidence suggests otherwise. The advancements and efficacy of treatments will be looked at in detail at this conference.
