Leadership in Radiology - Optimizing Your Practice's Efficiency is organized by Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) and would be held during Apr 18 - 19, 2017 at Le Centre Sheraton Hotel, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.The target audiences for this course are Canadian radiologists and radiology residents interested in business and leadership aspects of medical imaging.
This workshop will include lectures and an extended focus on interactive and small group learning activities. The participants will have the opportunity to directly discuss problems, concepts and solutions with the expert faculty. Presentations of case studies of typical Canadian radiology practices will challenge the course participants to put their learning into practice.
Learning Objectives :
• Explain how fundamental principles of business operations management impact every radiologist's practice and can be applied to achieve measurable improvements
• Describe how basic business process and analysis principles relate to improving departmental productivity and how those principles can be applied to achieve measurable improvements in optimizing schedules, predicting and accommodating cancellations and eliminating other workflow inefficiencies
• Identify system variability in their practice and understand how it relates to common problems such as expanding waitlists, low productivity and decreased capacity;
• Implement scheduling changes that can improve capacity and throughput
• Recognize how to detect, measure and better control system variability with the aim to decrease practice variability and increase practice efficiency
• Recommend changes to patient scheduling processes that improve booking in departments with limited equipment capacity
