International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG) - Advanced Course in Geriatric Oncology is organized by International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG) and would be held on Jun 28 - Jul 1, 2017 at Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore - Centro Studi Achille e Linda Lorenzon, Treviso, Veneto, Italy.
The target audience for this medical event are Medical oncologists completing their training since less than 5 years and medical oncology fellows, Other clinical oncologists: surgical oncologists and radiotherapists. This CME conference has been approved with 18 CME credits.
Course Description:
The SIOG Advanced Course in Geriatric Oncology is our unique CME accredited training programme lead by international experts in the field of geriatrics AND oncology designed to provide specific skills in assessment, care pathways and therapeutic choices about the elderly patients with cancer in order to provide the basis of the assessment and the multi-dimensional approach that should be applied to elderly cancer patients.
This 2-phase advanced course is addressed to professionals in the management of elderly cancer patients who will acquire knowledge on the general principles of cancer treatment as a multidisciplinarity with case based programmes, discussions and debates in geriatrics for clinical oncologists as well as in clinical oncology for geriatricians.
The course aims are
• To provide basic information related to cancer medicine to the geriatricians and to the application of geriatric principles to the clinical oncologists
• To train young medical oncologists and geriatricians to work together. These individuals will become the bridge between the oncological and geriatric teams in their own institutions
