Incorporating Advances in the Management of Epilepsy (SFNS) is organized by Rockpointe Corporation and Potomac Center for Medical Education and would be held on Mar 24, 2017 at Monterey Plaza Hotel, Monterey, California, United States Of America.
Appropriate treatment of epilepsy requires proper identification of the type of seizure involved; however, this work-up is not always completed in a timely fashion and many patients receive treatment prior to an accurate diagnosis. Even with proper identification of seizure type, treatment can be a challenge. Up to 30% of patients will remain refractory to medication.
In addition, with a large selection of anticonvulsant treatment options and a growing amount of clinical-trial data, selecting the optimal treatment regimen for each individual patient can be quite difficult. An improved understanding of the efficacy and safety profiles of current and emerging anticonvulsant therapies is needed to offer improved seizure control to epileptic patients.
The educational activity, "Incorporating Advances in the Management of Epilepsy," will provide clinicians with the skills and knowledge needed to achieve the above goals, provide proper patient counseling and education, and enhance adverse-event management in order to achieve seizure control and provide epilepsy patients with an improved quality of life.
