How to Manage : Chronic Pain in Children and Young People is organized by Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) and would be held on Jun 14, 2017 at RCPCH Venue Hire, London, England, United Kingdom.

The target audience for this medical event are Paediatric trainees, Pain Medicine trainees, SAS Doctors, Paediatric Consultants, Nurses and Allied Healthcare Professionals.

This one-day course will cover diagnosis, assessment, multidisciplinary management and referral pathways for children and young people who have chronic pain. You will learn approaches to explain the different types of pain to parents and family members, whilst improving your understanding of referral pathways. The course will also cover the biopsychosocial model, designed to help with the assessment, formulation and management of pain.

Objectives & Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course you should be able to:
• Appreciate updates on pain mechanisms and management in children
• Understand current concepts of pain physiology in acute and chronic pain
• Appreciate underlying mechanisms in clinical presentations of pain
• Assess pain intensity and pain-associated disability appropriately
• Understand management principles in nociceptive, neuropathic and functional pain disorders
• Prescribe and implement rational and evidence-based pain management strategies
• Understand referral pathways and avoid pitfalls in the management of problematic pain.
