The target audience for this medical event for Primary care clinicians interested in pain management. This CME Conference has been approved with a maximum of 13.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
This two-day conference for primary care clinicians integrates recent scientific data with current clinic practice regarding pain management. Topics include responsible opioid prescribing, pain and mental health, and pain management essentials. Participants will also learn about the management of co-morbid conditions and the integration and coordination of pain management within primary care.
Conference Objectives are :
• Recognize how to evaluate the patient in pain
• Implement evidence-based treatment for pain
• Identify when it is appropriate to seek pain management or addiction consultation or referral
• State how to prescribe opioids for chronic pain in rational and responsible manner
• Recognize how to identify and treat addictive behaviors
• Identify the legal issues surrounding pain management
• Develop an awareness of other treatment modalities besides medications
• Identify the connection between chronic pain and mood dysregulation, including depression and anxiety
• Review the clinical concerns associated with use of opioids
• Review the AMPS approach to primary care psychiatric assessment.
