Learning Objectives
• Understand the etiology of periradicular pathosis of endodontic origin
• Understand the concepts and techniques of hemostasis in apical surgery
• Understand the concepts behind different flap designs suitable for apical surgery
• Understand the selection criteria for proper surgical cases with predictable outcomes
• Participants will acquire knowledge and skills in apical tissue excavation, root end resection, retro preparation and retro filling using bioactive materials.
• Participants will learn to use specific surgical instruments and ergonomics for optimal positioning of patients and the operator
• Understand the indications and techniques for the use of bone grafting and barrier usage
Participants will acquire suturing skills for different flap designs
Workshop Exercises
• Simulated anatomical 3D printed surgical models
• Full thickness marginal and submarginal flaps
• Root end resection and excavation of apical granulation tissue
• Retro-preparation with ultrasonic instruments
• Root end filling with MTA and bioceramic putty
• Bone grafting and membrane placement
• Tissue adaptation and suturing techniques
